Silhouettes Of My Fabled Dreams

Violence against women is a technical term used to collectively refer to violent acts that are primarily or exclusively committed against women. Similar to a hate crime, this type of violence targets a specific group with the victim’s gender as a primary motive.

The United Nations General Assembly defines “violence against women” as “any act of gender-based violence that results in, or is likely to result in, physical, sexual or mental harm or suffering to women, including threats of such acts, coercion or arbitrary deprivation of liberty, whether occurring in public or in private life.”

As the so called “civilized beings” is this the way we want our women to be treated?

If she can’t go outside without the fear of being eve teased, molested or harassed then what right do we have to be labeled the ones with a conscience.

Speak up. Raise your voice against it. Bring the criminals to law. Be responsible.

Paint me a world with a silken charm unmatched.

Honoring the silhouettes of my fabled dreams.

Help me define myself from own bright shadows.

In my silent requests, your masculine might beams.

Ardent efforts of keeping it all the way you want.

Unexplained curses douse my parched choke.

Never the assistance of your inspiring touch.

Us being together – why only my beliefs got broke.

Viciously, you make me a pyre of pain and agony.

And lit the fire with violent impacts of charge.

My trust is burnt and I drown in the flames.

Once so lively, now bruised with no entourage.

The stamps of unethical endeavors on my mind.

Decomposed memoirs of your faded importance.

This silence is as I still pray for the miracle undone.

The end of love is hardly a reason for sustained penance.

yup 🙂 but in our society, some women are dependent on man.. so they just bear everything … !! and most of them have been taught to treat husband as god… 😀

      • August 11, 2012 at 10:02 pm

Treating husbands as Gods is nothing wrong. But even God has only a corner in your home….and you don’t live in a temple !! 🙂

        August 11, 2012 at 10:05 pm

that is applicable only for some portion of society !! 🙂 . what about thousands of illiterate females of India !! .. they are left with no choice !!

      • August 11, 2012 at 10:09 pm

You bring the point with the cause and solution too !
Illiteracy – the curse behind all.
but Archana, perhaps literacy is not the cause we are talking about solely here. This violence and biased attitude towards women is applicable to us “MODERN” ones too.
It’s irrespective of the face of the society we live in. The truth is that it’s happening and the only way to stop it is to speak up.

And i wonder when will the men start acting a little more sensitive!

    • August 11, 2012 at 9:04 pm

being sensitive won’t be the diff….being respectful and honoring the true worth of a woman in society and life would be.
      Thanks Archana

  6. August 12, 2012 at 12:56 am

  7. August 12, 2012 at 9:55 pm

Selective words, spontaneous spread out and potent stance… Title itself is also poetic. Pleasing poem!

    • August 13, 2012 at 10:32 am

      Thank You Christina.

Respect and honor are born out of a woman as she teaches a whole generation to be humane.

But there are these evil realities which keep us ashamed and yet so imperfect.

      • August 13, 2012 at 10:44 am

So true, I believe that if we all teach our children better than we were taught – a whole new generation could rise up and truly make a difference! It is something I hope for…

      • August 13, 2012 at 11:13 am

a simple truth to be followed 🙂

  9. August 17, 2012 at 6:42 pm

The sensitivity of the issue depicted very precisely…emotions hurt, soul bruised ,there’s nthng more sinful than hurting someone near to you..

    • August 17, 2012 at 7:10 pm

The humane sense is not by birth..it has to be nourished in your thoughts and acts…some are on the receiving end…not so good

  10. August 27, 2012 at 7:15 am

I love the transparency of your thoughts and the sensitivity of your words. You’d be such a treasure as a next door neighbor! I feel a connection with your heart strings!

    • August 27, 2012 at 9:46 am

Thank You Ma’am…it’s a pleasure following you 🙂
