I Am That Someone

Crime against women
is the worst reality that our society does acknowledge as being cruel and inhumane…and then sleeps over it.

Fucking speak against it.

Stand for the ones who get hurt.

If you can’t stop it  – you or someone you love – might just end up being on the receiving end.

Prayers in my ordeal

still remain so unheard.

Unwanted and unprovoked

fellowship of hate.

Broken smiles – plasticized,

and made up happiness.

Recollecting the vows,

could they shape this fate?

–          Someone who witnesses domestic violence

Chocked assumptions in abundance

consume all respect.

Terrified steps of fall

damage my being immaculate.

Avoiding greater harms

I settle down for the least.

Known as been taken.

Diminishing sanities fluctuate.

–          Someone who was molested.

A sack of emotional ache

beyond recognition.

Traumatized body waiting

to be lit and charred.

They took my meaning,

ripped apart from my soul.

Unfazed biases, from being whole,

I am barred.

–          Someone who was raped.

Thank you for being the voice of those unheard. Abuse takes many forms, physical, verbal, control, isolation, etc. All too often the family and friends know what is happening and choose to remain silent. We will never be an evolved humanity as long as even one remains the victim of these atrocities. What happens to one child, one woman happens to us all. hugs, pat

thanks Pat….the comments coming from a strong woman like you have their own importance to me.

…….and then sleeps over it. So true, Prashant.
Abuse in any form is brutal, weakening emotional strength and punctuated voices. You brought many images here. Thank you for being this voice.

    Very painful…. 😦
“Broken smiles-plasticised”….here you have captured the true essence of domestic violence. There are women who come in Emergency and in a battered state and never confess that their husband has been hitting them.
Let me tell you..one of my closest and sweetest friends has been a victim of severe domestic violence…and she was a doctor, hit by a doctor!!! Abused by an educated man! 😦 😦 There were bruises and lumps in head due to her husband smashing her head on the wall off-and-on. 😦
She escaped one day….but the scars remain. I have seen such living examples….and feel very strongly about it. Humanity weeps at it’s murder. Thankyou for writing this. I have written something like this at the beggining of my blog…it’s called “Abused soul”
“…avoiding greater harms i settle down for the least..”…poor things! 😥
….and the last one is the most painful…”Traumatized body waiting to be lit and charred”…..and you have potrayed the true imagery coz a woman’s modesty is her life…her dignity…her self-respect…if attacked then that’s how she must feel….a corpse should be lit and done away with.
On the whole, very powerful, hard-hitting and meaningful. You have taken the soul of a tortured woman and made it your pulse.
I haven’t yet read any woman’s poem on this issue.
But as we think on the same wavelength…i have written an “angry” poem encompassing all of this in a more generalised way called “Annihilation”…which i haven’t published yet. But soon hope to.
Thankyou once again for becoming the voice of those who can’t speak up about their agony.

      thank you Suraiya
What troubles here is education alone can’t be spoken of as a solution of these evils. As you brought out the shame of the educated and well educated society beings.

A woman is the real building block of the base of any society or family. A traumatized one would only create a chaotic one.

      Thank you for your support.

      • August 25, 2012 at 4:26 pm

        You have spoken my thoughts.
“Education” is no scale to define humanity and goodness now.
        I have seen educated beasts.
Perhaps moral science should be made the most important subject in school…..to pass any class. There lies a huge unpardonable vacuum in the upbringing of such individuals.
Always here for support on these causes….we all have to stand up!

This one really tops most of your pieces. Beautifully expressed what most women feel and go through. My heart reaches out to all those who’ve suffered for no fault of theirs. The world does seem very cruel at times!

I don’t usually “promote” my blog and I’m not meaning to, but I think you will relate to this post which is my experience as a little girl with child abuse.
