Sin of Being Pure

October 21, 2013 14 comments

Rape. Domestic Violence. Physical & Mental Harassment.
Biased Moralities. Prejudiced Priorities. Unwanted Principles.

The following poem is an attempt to express the feelings of a woman in pain by just being a part of our society.

No mirrors tell my story
None paint the pain I drown and die every moment in
Time doesn’t stop to know my part of the death
Introductions rot with a din

I search for heartbeats
In battered pieces of flesh, once they had a soul
Bleeding tears of carrying your disgrace upon me
A dead one with a silent yowl

Loathe me with all you’ve got
Bring all the profane grumblings, unprejudiced or unsure
I’m left with slayed dreams, you took all that was me
My only sin was of being pure

Her Slow Demise

A shame known as “marital rape” happens around us. This is the evil of domestic violence our society so very calmly lives with.

Please speak up against it.

She woke up this morning again
Assembling her tormented body
Seeking respect that lay battered
Her meaning simply meant shoddy

Watching her slow demise in front
Standing next to the broken mirror
She dyed her scars with fake normalcy
Bleeding life, once knew some fervor

There weren’t any questions she had
She waited for no explanations either
Wearing a mask over pilling atrocities
Perhaps, even left wishing for a breather

A cloak of numbness and unjust burgeoning
Swallowing her, as she ceased to defy
This is her story and she dies near you
Devouring herself, for him to pacify

Silhouettes Of My Fabled Dreams

Violence against women is a technical term used to collectively refer to violent acts that are primarily or exclusively committed against women. Similar to a hate crime, this type of violence targets a specific group with the victim’s gender as a primary motive.

The United Nations General Assembly defines “violence against women” as “any act of gender-based violence that results in, or is likely to result in, physical, sexual or mental harm or suffering to women, including threats of such acts, coercion or arbitrary deprivation of liberty, whether occurring in public or in private life.”

As the so called “civilized beings” is this the way we want our women to be treated?

If she can’t go outside without the fear of being eve teased, molested or harassed then what right do we have to be labeled the ones with a conscience.

Speak up. Raise your voice against it. Bring the criminals to law. Be responsible.

Paint me a world with a silken charm unmatched.

Honoring the silhouettes of my fabled dreams.

Help me define myself from own bright shadows.

In my silent requests, your masculine might beams.

Ardent efforts of keeping it all the way you want.

Unexplained curses douse my parched choke.

Never the assistance of your inspiring touch.

Us being together – why only my beliefs got broke.

Viciously, you make me a pyre of pain and agony.

And lit the fire with violent impacts of charge.

My trust is burnt and I drown in the flames.

Once so lively, now bruised with no entourage.

The stamps of unethical endeavors on my mind.

Decomposed memoirs of your faded importance.

This silence is as I still pray for the miracle undone.

The end of love is hardly a reason for sustained penance.
